The All New Volvo XC40 – the Small SUV that’s Big on Innovation
The baby Volvo has recently been launched in South Africa, but don’t be mistaken, this dynamo is packed with plenty of spunk! With expressive design, ingenious storage and smart technology, it’s built for city life.
The XC40 offers two engines at present – Volvo’s class leading D4 turbodiesel, producing 140kW, and a T5 petrol engine, producing 185kW. Both engines produce responsive power while offering lower fuel consumption and emissions – perfect for city commutes. Volvo plan to introduce the T3 engine to the range later this year.
The baby SUV also boasts Volvo’s Sensus Connect infotainment system as seen on it’s bigger brothers, the XC60 and XC90. The impressive 9-inch tablet includes functions such as Pilot Assist semi-autonomous assistance system, City Safety, Run-Off-Road protection and mitigation, Cross Traffic Alert with brake support and a 360° camera for safe parking.
In line with Volvo’s mantra of driver safety, the XC40 is packed with driver aides to keep you alert and driving well, including adaptive cruise control, 360-degree surround view technology, alert control, active high beam control, blind spot information system, lane keeping aid senses, city safety technology, cyclist detection technology, intersection braking technology and IntelliSafe autopilot.
Prices for the new addition to Volvo’s range start from R600 300 for the D4 Diesel and R610 900 for the petrol powered T5, with both engines connected to an All Wheel Drive system (AWD).
The new Volvo XC40 small SUV has been named the 2018 European Car of the Year ahead of the Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. It is the first win of this prestigious award for Volvo Cars. The XC40 sets a new standard in its segment in terms of design, connectivity and safety technology.
